Modelled on English company law, persons wishing to engage with persons resident in the BVI and requiring the protection of corporate limited liability should incorporate limited liability under the Companies Act.
Companies Act companies may be used by both residents and non-residents of the BVI. Unlike IBC registered companies, a Companies Act company can take advantage of any tax treaties to which the BVI is a party.
These companies are used primarily by non-residents engaged in business in which an IBC may not engage, such as the ownership of BVI real estate.
