The Department of Human Resources hosted a successful Human Resources (HR) Talk last week to discuss the fourteen cost cutting measures taken by Cabinet to manage the growth of the public service.
The session, which is part of the Deputy Governor’s Office and the Department of Human Resources’ ongoing awareness and education campaign to further explain Cabinet’s decision was facilitated by the Financial Secretary, Mr. Neil Smith, Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs. Rosalie Adams, Director of Human Resources, Mr. David Archer and Deputy Director of Human Resources, Mrs. Michelle Donovan Stevens.
Presentations were made by all the facilitators and over seventy public officers participated in the question and answer segment offered within the session.
The education campaign continues with the Deputy Governor and the Director of Human Resources’ making a guest appearance on the GIS Radio Report scheduled for Friday, July 30; representatives will also appear on GIS Public Eye on August 11. Additionally, a team is expected to travel to the Sister Island of Virgin Gorda to host a similar HR Talk that will provide public officers with an opportunity to ask questions and address concerns they may have.
The objective of the HR Talk was to give an overview of the strategies to control the growth of the public service and to give public officers and members of the public an opportunity to ask questions.
The strategies to manage the growth of the Public Service are part of the Government’s commitment to enhance a Public Service culture of greater accountability and productivity.
