ROSALIE ADAMS APPOINTED PERMANENT SECRETARY PREMIE’RS OFFICE

His Excellency the Governor Mr. Boyd McCleary, CMG, CVO acting on the advice of the Public Service Commission, has approved the appointment of Mrs. Rosalie Adams as Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office until further notice.
Mrs. Adams, whose appointment commenced January 16, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Guidance Counselling from Bristol University in the United Kingdom.
Mrs. Adams joined the Public Service in 1969 and has taught at various public schools throughout the Territory until 1990 when she was transferred to the Department of Education and Culture and served as an Education Officer until 1997. She also served as Assistant Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office (now Premier’s Office) from 1997 – 1998 and Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Education & Culture from 1998 – 2001.
Mrs. Adams was promoted to the post of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Welfare (now Ministry of Health & Social Development) in 2002. She also served as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications & Works from 2006 – 2007 and Permanent Secretary, Premier’s Office from October, 2007 until March, 2011 when she retired from the Public Service.
As Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs. Adams is responsible for managing and supervising the activities of the Premier’s Office; advising the Premier on the formulation of policies and implementation of policy recommendations of the other Ministries and international agencies; overseeing the annual preparation of the Capital and Recurrent Budget Estimates for the Ministry and its Departments/Units; ensuring that the financial resources allocated are properly managed and liaising with the Governor’s Office on external affairs such as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s matters.
