GOVERNMENT SIGNS CONTRACT FOR THE NATIONAL SEWERAGE PROJECT

Yesterday the Government signed a contract with CBE Engineering Associates Limited for management, engineering and construction supervision services for the national sewerage project that will take place in East End/Long Look and parts of Road Town.
Premier and Minister of Finance Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal OBE, on behalf of the Government signed the $1,976,307.50 contract with the Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Julian Fraser, RA as witness at the East End/Long Look Community Centre.
In his remarks, the Premier said, “I want to thank all the members from the House of Assembly for giving us their full support in this exercise,” the Premier said. He also added, “It is the Government’s duty and representative’s duty to make the necessary representations to get these contracts so that we can see work is being done.
In his remarks, the Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Julian Fraser, RA, recalled a brief history of the project, and outlined key elements of the contract and said he feels good about the progress that is being made to address the water and sewerage issues of this Territory.
Consultant, Mr. Carvin Malone during the response affirmed his commitment to the project. “On behalf of CBE Engineering Associates I pledge with all things equal to join leading engineering specialists together with our best local talents and deliver to the British Virgin Islands a world class engineered and managed national sewerage project within budget, without disruptions and on time,” he said.
The contract signing was attended by most members of the House of Assembly and over 50 persons from the community.
The Ministry of Communications and Works is committed to the continued development and maintenance of the Territory’s public infrastructure.
