WORK RESUMES ON NEW PEEBLES HOSPITAL PROJECT
Thursday December 11, 2008
Work resumed on the new Peebles Hospital project today ending a temporary suspension related to the resolution of issues between Government and the contractors.
Acting Permanent Secretary Ms. Petrona Smith visited the site earlier today and met with Project Engineer Mr. Bennet Smith who updated her on the progress of the hospital project.
“Our discussions with the contractors, Mirsand-Carimex-Quantum, are still ongoing but workers returned to the site today and are expected to break for the Christmas holidays shortly,” Ms. Smith said.
Work is expected to resume in early January; however, once discussions are concluded, the ministry will provide the public with a status report on the project.
The ministry announced yesterday that work on the hospital project had not ceased but that construction operations were suspended on December 1st.
The hospital project remains one of Government’s priority projects to ensure that the people of this Territory have access to quality healthcare.
