Friday October 31, 2008

The Ministry of Communications and Works has awarded five petty contracts for the installation of drainage improvement in Hannah’s Estate scheduled to begin tomorrow.

The contracts were all awarded to local contractors and companies. Work is expected to last eight weeks and will include the construction of a curb and slipper drain, swale drains, construction of manholes and bulkhead, road reinstatement and the fabrication and installation of manhole covers.

To facilitate the work, motorists are advised that the road to Hannah’s Estate from the intersection at the Superette at Nanny Cay will be closed to all vehicular traffic. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to take an alternate route to Hannah’s Estate, travel with caution in the area and adhere to all traffic and road signs.

Proper drainage systems help to facilitate the efficient run-off of water, adding longevity to the Territory’s roads.

The improvement of the drainage in Hannah’s Estate is in keeping with Government’s commitment to modernise and expand the road network throughout the Territory
