Island Life

A democratic society, the VI is home to a diverse community with a rich cultural heritage. The standard of living is one of the best in the Caribbean, and unemployment is low. The education system comprises state and private schools, as well as a community college. Healthcare is provided by both public and private clinics, and an extensive hospital construction project is currently underway.

The temperate climate and beautiful natural environment encourage a healthy, outdoor lifestyle, with sporting opportunities all around, from fishing, diving, and sailing our world-famous seas to walking on the beach, horseback riding, or exploring one of our beautiful national parks. Festivals and holidays are times for relaxing or celebrating with parades, local foods, and music.
