1. Mr. Speaker, Members of the House of Assembly, ladies and gentlemen, good morning.
2. Mr. Speaker, I stand in this Honourable House to present the third Speech from the Throne during this Administration and my first as Governor of the Territory of the Virgin Islands. I would like to take this opportunity to say how much I have appreciated the welcome given to me, my wife and daughter during our first few weeks. The winds may have blown, the rains may have fallen, but the welcome of the people of the BVI has been very warm.
BVI STUDENTS ATTEND YORK UNIVERSITY GLOBAL LEADERS PROGRAMME

Four secondary students from three of the Territory’s secondary schools attended the York University Emerging Global Leaders Programme (EGLP) last week.
Students Issa Alexander (Bregado Flax Educational Centre - secondary division ); Leslie Allen Jr. (St. Georges Secondary School); Erika Sorrentino and Alice Wilkinson (Cedar International School), who were selected by the York University, travelled to Barbados on October 11 to attend the three-day programme.

The Commonwealth Secretariat, based in London, is providing consultancy services to the Virgin Islands Government, at no cost, for Information Communication Technology (ICT) Adviser Mr. Anthony Ming to conduct an initial three-day assessment of the state of e-Government readiness across the public service.
Mr. Ming has held a number of stakeholder sessions to sensitise public officers about e-Government requirements and to provide a framework for offering government services on-line.

BUSINESS TO ATTEND OECS REVIEW OF LOCAL ARTS AND CRAFTS SECTOR

Businesses in the arts and crafts sector have until Friday, 27 August to register to attend the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Export Development Unit (OECS/EDU) diagnostic review and analysis of the sector.
The review will be held in Conference Room #2 at the Central Administration Building on Monday, August 30th at 9:00 a.m. and will help to establish the current status of the Territory’s arts and crafts sector and its contribution to the economy.
