PREMIER HEADS DELEGATIONS TO BERMUDA AND LONDON MEETINGS

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE, will on Thursday lead a delegation to Bermuda to attend the June 4–5 Pre-Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) meeting.

Delegates convening in Bermuda will formalise common issues for discussion ahead of the annual OTCC meeting to be held in London later this year.

Premier O’Neal will meet with counterparts from other United Kingdom Overseas Territories namely Anguilla, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Montserrat and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

BVI LONDON CIRCLE MEETING BUILDS ON POSITIVE OUTLOOK

Director of the BVI London Office Mr. Kedrick Malone recently met with the BVI London Circle of Business Leaders to discuss a presentation on behalf of the International Finance Centre (IFC) on current political developments in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Discussion also focussed on the London Office 2010 Work Programme and the potential growth areas for business in the financial sector of the Virgin Islands.

NEW LAW FIRM HEADS TO BVI

Six BVI law students attended a presentation hosted exclusively for them on 25th March by WithersWorldwide at their UK headquarters in the City of London.

Begun in 1896 by two brothers as Withers and Withers, the firm now employs more than 600 people worldwide and has global revenues of more than £150 m.

Their BVI office is expected to open in early May and will be headed by partners John Greenwood and Jeremy Scott.

London Office Hosts Third Annual Professional Development Seminar

Twenty-two BVI students participated in the 3rd Annual Professional Development Seminar hosted by the London Office at BVI House on 28th February and facilitated by Sarah Setterfield, of Impact 4 Success, a leading UK corporate consultancy firm.

While the first seminar focused on the Legal Profession Act and the second on Financial Services, the third emphasized preparing students for the job market.

CFD LAUNCHES GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT OUTLOOK REPORT

If you are interested in learning more about the environment, the Conservation and Fisheries Department and the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) are inviting the public to the launch of the Global Environment Outlook for Youth in the Caribbean Report on Wednesday, December 3 at 12:30 p.m. in the Breezeway at the Central Administration Building.

The report features articles, poems and other artistic representations from youth in 14 Caribbean countries between the ages of 15 and 29 who shared their environmental concerns and proposals.
