NEW LAW FIRM HEADS TO BVI

Friday April 3, 2009

Six BVI law students attended a presentation hosted exclusively for them on 25th March by WithersWorldwide at their UK headquarters in the City of London.

Begun in 1896 by two brothers as Withers and Withers, the firm now employs more than 600 people worldwide and has global revenues of more than £150 m.

Their BVI office is expected to open in early May and will be headed by partners John Greenwood and Jeremy Scott.

Mr. Greenwood and Patrick Hamlin, another partner in the firm, introduced the students to Withers and discussed the training and employment opportunities available to them at Withers, as well as the firm’s future in the BVI.

“At the London Office we help to facilitate these types of events because of the keen interest shown by our students in knowing what’s available to them,” says Dawn Smith, Director of the London Office.

“We want the students, as BVIslanders, to have a real “in” with these international firms which are operating in the Territory because the opportunities for them within these firms are vast and largely untapped so far.”

Appleby, Spurling and Hunter and Conyers, Dill and Pearlman have also hosted similar events for BVI law students.

The London Office is hoping to encourage more firms to do the same
